 “Understanding Alzheimer’s and When Hospice Can Help”

 

This course will help the participant to gain a better understanding of the symptoms that occur during the different stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and care issues that can occur toward the end stages of the disease. The participant will develop an awareness of ways to communicate with patients and their families during end stages as well as assessment tools that can help identify which end of life stage an individual may be in. It will also address when a referral to hospice may be appropriate as well as benefits to hospice care for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and their families.

Target audience: social workers, all levels, with geriatric clients. Free to GSWSM members, $10 entry fee for guests and non-members. 1.0 CEU is available for this presentation through the MI Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative
